Recycling cardboard boxes has resulted in a significant cost benefit to the operating budget together with improved customer service

The Easypack Shredder was chosen by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution following extensive trials, which included customer surveys to assess the performance and acceptability of the packaging media. RNLI despatches gifts and souvenirs to the charity's customers worldwide and demands a packaging material that offers effective protection for a wide range of items of varying size and weight.

The Easypack Shredder machine is used to recycle surplus cardboard boxes to produce a tough flexible mat with an easily handled lattice structure for use as product protection and void fill for goods in transit. Corrugated cardboard boxes of any size, and up to 15 mm total thickness, are fed automatically and the machine trims the boxes, as it shreds, without the need for pre-cutting. A powerful three-phase motor provides high-speed cushion production with volume output up to 6 cubic metres per hour.

Substantial cost savings have been made and the RNLI Fulfilment Centre Manager comments “Recycling cardboard boxes has resulted in a significant cost benefit to the operating budget together with improved customer service. It has completely changed the way our company now looks at recycling. We find the Shredder machine is easy to use and rapidly converts surplus boxes into instant packaging material. By recycling, customers are happy to see we are helping to protect the environment".
